Review Team
The Scope Review Team
A Review Team is formed to carry out the review of the organisation consisting of a Team Leader who is also an Assessor and 2 – 3 Assessors depending on the size of the organisation. The Assessors are interviewed, approved and trained. Their training takes place before they can carry out a review.
The first criteria for becoming an Assessor is that the person must have been or is currently a youth development practitioner, we are then looking for people with skills and experience in management, governance team leading, knowledge and understanding of researched youth development models, bi cultural practice and strategic thinking.
The organisation sets the dates for the review, a Team leader is sought who can lead the review on those dates. Once a Team Leader is sought then Assessors are sought. The Assessors are chosen for a review based on gender mix of the team, a Tangata Whenua Assessor, experience and at least 1 Assessor who is experienced in the context the organisation that is being reviewed works in for example a youth centre.
The organisation receives the names of the Team and their profiles which allows the organisation to see the experience and skills of each team member and gives them an opportunity to challenge any conflict of interest.
What is the role of the Assessors?
The Assessors role is to participate in interviewing, reading documentation, recording information and evidence against the key performance indicators of each standards. The team comes to a consensus when deciding the grading of the standards.
The Assessors will attend a pre review meeting where the team is brought together usually over a meal that is paid for so the team can get to know each other. There is then one more pre review meeting where the team will meet to go over the Itinerary of the review that is put together by the Team Leader with the organisation.
There is a post review meeting where the team meets with the organisations governance body to go through the report which is the responsibility of the Team Leader to write. This is the final responsibility of the Assessor.
